Basketball

High School

CCS offers Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball for high school boys and girls. Students in 9th and 10th grade may participate at the JV level. Students in 10th through 12th grades may participate at the Varsity level. This program will emphasize a whole team effort toward winning games. CCHS does not participate in a specific conference so all games are scheduled independently with other area Christian and private schools. The equipment fee for basketball is $75.

Coach Ben Peacock – Men’s Basketball

I have been at CCS since 1999 during which time I have served as Athletic Director, coached elementary basketball and soccer, high school ladies basketball, high school men’s soccer, and most recently high school men’s basketball over the past 2 seasons. I have had the pleasure of coaching competitive basketball for over 16 years including AAU, YBOA, and as a scout and recruiter at the collegiate level. As a coach, I am most pleased when our athletes play to their highest potential in a way that is pleasing to their coaches, their teammates and most importantly to the Lord. My wife Amy has taught Art at CCS in the past and is currently a teacher’s assistant for 5th grade. We have two children at CCS – Andrew who is in 4th grade and our daughter Avery who is in 1st.

Coach Dale Crowell – Ladies Basketball

I have coached the Lady Warriors High School teams since 2010.  Prior to coming to Cherokee Christian I coached basketball for Crown Athletics.  My playing career included both high school and college experience.  I love the game of basketball and I am very passionate about coaching.  Our team scripture is Philippians 1:27 which reads: Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel”.  We strive at all times to be good ambassadors of Jesus Christ and by doing so we represent our school, our family and ourselves very well.  We are known for playing aggressive defense and for pushing the ball up the court on offense.  My wife Lori and I have been married for 25 years and we have five children between the ages of 14 and 22.

Middle School

CCS offers basketball for middle school boys and girls. Students in 6th through 8th grade may participate and teams are formed based on participation levels. In the event that enough middle school players are not available, 5th grade students may be invited to participate. This program will emphasize a whole team effort toward winning games. CCS middle school is a member of NAML and games are scheduled with other area Christian and private schools. The equipment fee for basketball is $75.

Coach Craig Griffin – Girls Basketball

Coach Griffin has two children at CCS, Bailey (8th) and Robby (6th) and is the husband of middle school English teacher, Kimberly Griffin.  He participated in a variety of athletics through high school, college and the military and has been coaching for approximately the last 7 years.  He coached youth baseball for 5 years and took over as the Middle School Girls Basketball coach in 2010.
