CCS offers Varsity soccer for high school boys and girls. Students in 9th and 12th grade may participate. This program will emphasize a whole team effort toward winning games. CCHS is a member of the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association (GICAA) and all games are scheduled with other area Christian and private schools. The equipment fee for soccer is $50.
Coach Travis Hanenburg – Men’s Soccer
Travis Hanenburg grew up on a dairy farm in Edgerton, MN where he attended Christian grade school and high school. Following high school, he attended Dordt College, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education: specialization in anatomy and physiology; coaching degree. He and his wife, Amy, moved to Louisiana for two years, where they taught at a Christian grade school. They moved to Houston, TX for a year to start a classical Christian school before coming to Georgia in 1998. While in Georgia, he taught at CCS for 2 years, spent a year at Dominion Christian High School before returning to Cherokee Christian in the fall of 2002. Travis has coached both boys’ and girls’ soccer for many years and has also coached basketball and volleyball. He has taught a variety of subjects in every grade from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. He has been married for 16 years to his wife, Amy, who homeschools their four children: Alexis, Seth, Danielle and Mackenzie.
CCS offers soccer for middle school boys and girls. Students in 6th through 8th grade may participate and teams are formed based on participation levels. In the event that enough middle school players are not available, 5th grade students may be invited to participate. This program will emphasize a whole team effort toward winning games. CCS middle school is a member of NAML and games are scheduled with other area Christian and private schools. The equipment fee for soccer is $50.
Coach Andy McCann – Boys and Girls MS Soccer, HS Ladies Soccer
I am a local to Georgia and grew up near Stone Mountain where I played soccer, wrestling, pole vaulting, and cross country for Parkview HS. I earned an Electrical Engineering degree and participated on the track and field team (pole vault) for Georgia Tech. I am married and the proud father of 4 children. Olivia is in 5th grade, Evan in 4th grade, Levi in 2nd grade and Evie who is 3 years old. My family attends Watermark Church. I have coached soccer for Cherokee Impact for 5 years, crossfit at the Garage, fencing at Cherokee Fencing Club, and as well as recreational basketball here at CCS. I look forward to opportunity to help build a solid MS soccer program at CCS.
