SAT Scores

Two of the most important factors that college admission officers consider are the student’s SAT scores and his GPA (grade point average).

The SAT test is given to seniors and the chart illustrates the superior scores that CCHS students are achieving. In the public school system in the state of Georgia, the average SAT score in the 2008-2009 year was 1450. At Cherokee Christian High School, the average score over the last four years is 1716. As we consider this comparison, it is important to note three other important pieces of information:

  • 98% of the CCHS students have taken the SAT or ACT in the past four years.
  • In the 2008-2009 school year, 86% of the Georgia public school seniors took the ACT or SAT (13,919 students did not take either test).
  • If the 13,319 students who did not take either college admittance test (ACT or SAT) did take the test, it is reasonable to conclude that the state SAT average would be significantly lower.

Another important achievement for CCHS, its graduates, and their parents, is the fact that the average GPA for the last four years is over 3.25. This is important because a GPA of 3.0 is the minimum requirement to qualify for the HOPE scholarship.

A final interesting fact: In 2009 and 2010, CCHS’ class Valedictorian and Salutatorian have gone on to Georgia Tech and roomed together.

Important: A large part of the academic success of our students is our teachers. The schools provide an excellent environment for teachers which has resulted in high morale and exceptional retention. The average teaching experience of our faculty is 12.8 years.
