How Should Our Children Think?

At Cherokee Christian Schools, we are most concerned about the hearts and minds of children and how they are going to think in the world they live in. Here are just some of the critical topics facing our kids and our school today:

The culture we live in promotes a self centered, survival of the fittest mentality, producing the kind of behavior that manifests bullying. As Christians, we know that when one puts others first and is thankful for whatever station they are at in life, joy flows from that – not bullying.

It’s promoted virtually everywhere, with easy access at an all-time high. The effects are devastating to a person’s view of the opposite sex, harming relationships in their teen years and even into marriage. We see this as an evil addiction that dismantles the proper view of men and women in a healthy society.

Our culture may think sexting is OK or part of growing up, but it’s actually a problem with a poor view of self. The need for acceptance from others tempts many into giving away things that are beautiful and precious. As Christians, we know these things are created by God and need to be kept for marriage.

The internet and social media has connected our society more than ever. Children have more “friends” than before, including ones they’ve never spoken to. Yet, teen loneliness and depression are growing. We know that full orbed relationships can only be formed through personal contact and deeper conversations.
