You are thinking through an important decision, so we want to make sure all your questions are answered about Cherokee Christian School. The FAQ below will hopefully help get you started, but please let us know if there are any other ways we can assist you as you research education options for your child(ren).

Is CCS accredited?

Cherokee Christian Schools is fully accredited through Cognia (formerly the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools). Cognia accredits over 13,000 schools and school systems throughout the United States and overseas. For more information, click here.

What are the school hours?

Primary School Day (PreK-6)

8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Secondary School Day (7-12)

8:25 a.m. – 3:25 p.m.

What is the minimum age for Kindergarten?

The schools’ policy is that a child must be 5 years of age by September 1 to begin Kindergarten at CCS.

What is the minimum age for 1st grade?

A child must be 6 years of age by September 1 to begin 1st grade at CCS.

Are students required to wear uniforms?

Yes. Our uniform policy is designed to afford flexibility to parents, while fostering a positive learning environment for the students. Click here for more details about uniforms.

What kind of security measures are in place?

Hallways, exterior doors, parking lots, and playground areas are under full-time camera surveillance. All exterior doors remain locked during the day. Visitors must enter through the front lobby where access is electronically controlled into the building and into classroom areas. Security and fire alarms are connected to a central monitoring station.

Do you have before/after care programs?

Yes, the program is called GrowthCare. Parents may bring their child to the school at 7:00 a.m. and pick up as late as 6:00 p.m. For more information, click here.

Do you cap your class size?

In our primary school (K-6), classes are capped at 24 students. Each class is staffed with a teacher and a teacher’s assistant. In the secondary school (7-12), classes typically range from 18-24 students but are not strictly capped.

Are CCS graduates eligible for HOPE Scholarship?

CCS is recognized by the Georgia Student Finance Authority for eligibility of the HOPE Scholarship. Not only are CCS students eligible for the HOPE Scholarship, 86% of our graduates qualify for the HOPE Scholarship or other types of scholarships and awards.

Do you conduct school chapel?

Yes. Chapel is conducted once a week in both the primary and secondary schools. Students have opportunities to help lead worship and play in the chapel bands, and chapel messages are focused on explaining and applying biblical truth to students’ daily lives. Our chapel program is under the direction of our CCS Chaplain.

Do you use a particular Bible version?

While there are several faithful Bible translations, CCS uses the English Standard Version (ESV) in primary and secondary school classes. We believe the ESV combines precise translation with natural readability that is conducive to K-12 education.

Is CCS affiliated with a church or denomination?

CCS is not affiliated with a particular denomination; however, it does maintain a cooperative relationship with Faith Community Church (FCC) in Woodstock. The relationship was established to provide a level of accountability and oversight to the CCS Board to ensure the school remains faithful to its doctrinal/theological heritage. Day to day management of the school is carried out by the board-appointed Head of School and the senior leadership team.
