Program FAQs

Is Classical FLEX a homeschool hybrid program?

No. Rather than augmenting homeschool education with a few days of traditional classroom instruction, the Classical FLEX Program centers around 3 days of teacher-directed learning in a highly engaged classroom environment. The 2 FLEX days focus on augmenting prior classroom learning, preparing for future classroom engagement, or assessing overall student progress.

Will the two FLEX learning days be all online instruction?

No. While the instructional model will leverage technology where appropriate, the FLEX days will entail robust learning through reading and engaging texts and primary source material, writing and reflection, reinforcement of skills learned in the classroom, fine arts classes, vocational learning, tutoring if needed, and remedial instruction and academic support. The regimen of instruction will differ depending upon which schedule option the student is enrolled in. The 5-day on-campus option will be more structured and robust in content and opportunities for learning. Efforts will be scrupulously taken to keep screen time on computers to a reasonable level and utilize the myriad of other means for learning and engaging the curriculum.

Will Dual Enrollment courses be offered in this program?

Yes! Our current CCS teachers who are certified as adjunct professors at Toccoa Falls College (TFC) will continue to teach Dual Enrollment (DE) courses on our campus. In addition, we are signficantly expanding our DE course offering through TFC Online and Liberty University. Check out our Dual Enrollment Page for more details.

Can students switch between the 2 schedule options?

Yes and no. Parents can choose to switch their student’s schedule to a different option at each semester break. Additionally, there will be a brief “add/drop” period at the start of each semester when schedule changes are permitted. After the “add/drop” period concludes, parents and students must complete the semester according to their current schedule.

Students in both schedules will also receive an allotment of FLEX Day Vouchers each semester that will allow 5-Day students to take a remote learning day, while 3-Day students can use a voucher to spend a FLEX day on campus.

Will 3-Day students be allowed on campus on their FLEX days?

Yes, but ONLY during specific time blocks that require them to be on campus. Examples include meeting with teachers during their office hours, participating in scheduled extracurricular activities (sports, rehearsals, clubs, etc.), attending a scheduled tutoring session, etc. Students who are not enrolled in the 5-Day schedule option will not be permitted to “hang out” on campus during FLEX days.

What kind of industrial/culinary arts classes will be offered?

Exposure to the Industrial and Culinary Arts will be available to high school students through our Artisan Studies program described below.

What kind of industrial/culinary arts classes will be offered?

In conjuction with our Classical FLEX program, CCHS is launching a new Artisan Studies program that will introduce 9th and 10th grade students to the Industrial and Culinary Arts as units within their required Fine Arts class. Our 11th and 12th grade students will have an opportunity to enroll in Culinary and Industrial Arts electives that will meet for 1 hour and 45 minutes on the Tuesday/Friday flex schedule days.

  • Industrial Arts Elective – Introduces students to woodworking, workshop safety, and practical trade skills. Students will design and build furniture projects while learning proper tool use, finishing techniques, and craftsmanship. Throughout the year, students will also explore careers in the skilled trades through introductory units in framing, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, automotive repair, and blacksmithing.
  • Culinary Arts Elective – Introduces students to professional cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and hospitality fundamentals. Students develop essential culinary skills, explore careers in the food service industry, and work toward earning their ServSafe Certification.

Artisan Studies Program

The Artisan Studies Program cultivates in students a biblical and classical vision of work as creative, redemptive, and worshipful. It equips young men and women to reflect the image of God, the Master Artisan, through skillful hands, disciplined minds, and virtuous hearts. In a culture that often separates “academic” learning from manual labor, this program reunites the liberal arts with the practical arts, forming whole persons who can build, create, and serve with excellence for the glory of God and the good of their neighbors.

Current Courses Offered

Industrial Arts

Step into the workshop and learn the skills to design, build, and create with confidence. This hands-on course introduces students to woodworking fundamentals, emphasizing craftsmanship, safety, problem-solving, and project planning. Students progress from concept sketches and prototypes to completed furniture projects, gaining experience with hand and power tools, wood selection, finishing techniques, and safe workshop practices.

Students will complete individual woodworking projects, collaborate on a larger class “Legacy Project,” and develop practical skills that are valuable for both everyday life and future careers. Throughout the year, students will also explore a variety of skilled trades through introductory modules in framing, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, automotive repair, and blacksmithing.

Culinary Arts

Discover the art and science of cooking in this hands-on course designed for juniors and seniors interested in culinary arts and hospitality. Students learn professional kitchen safety, food preparation, knife skills, cooking techniques, and kitchen organization while working toward ServSafe Certification.

Through practical experience, students develop foundational culinary skills, including a variety of knife cuts, sautéing, grilling, roasting, searing, and sous vide cooking. The course also introduces the organization and operation of commercial kitchens, emphasizing teamwork, time management, sanitation, and professional standards.

Whether students are considering culinary school, careers in hospitality, or simply want to become confident home cooks, this course provides valuable lifelong skills in a collaborative, hands-on learning environment with individualized instruction.
